Visit the Palace of Parliament A Tale of Bucharest, June 25, 2024June 25, 2024 The Palace of Parliament was built as a consequence of the devastating earthquake of 1977 and a visit done by Ceausescu to North Korea. Its construction started during Nicolae Ceausescu’s regime in the 1980s with the demolition of an area of approximately one fifth of Bucharest surface. The construction works were finished in 1996 and at the height of the works at the end of the communist regime, the construction team numbered over 100 000 workers and hundreds of architects. It is today the largest administrative civil building and also the most expensive one in the world. Today it houses a number of institutions such as the Chamber of Deputies, the Senate, the Legislative Council, the Constitutional Court of Romania as well as being a venue for various conferences and events. Please make sure to check website below for more up to date information.The Palace of Parliament can be visited daily between 09:00 – 17:00 with a booking in advance. All tours are guided and last for approximately 1 hour. Bookings for 1 to 9 people need to be made by phone, only one day prior to the visit, within the limits of available places, from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 – 16:00, at the following telephone numbers: +40 733 558 102 or +40 733 558 103.Entrance for visiting is on : Izvor street no. 2-4, on the side of the building, across Izvor park. Closest metro station is Izvor.Important: Access in the Parliament can be made only with a valid Passport or National ID. Other documents ( like driving license) are not accepted.Price of ticket:Adult: 60 Lei / personStudent: 30 Lei/person ( 19-26 with valid student card)Child: 20 Lei/Person ( up to 18 years)Tickets can be purchased only on the day of the visit. Therefore, make sure you arrive 20 minutes before your tour start time.Also, since this is a public institution, it can be closed to visitors without any notice or very short notice. Tip 2: In case you couldn’t plan your visit in advance, you can try asking at the ticket office for any remaining spots for the day. But, please note that it is highly unlikely to find any convenient places on the tour, especially in high season. Tip 3: Expect security and document check ( similar to airport security checks but with liquids permitted). Therefore, make sure to bring very light baggage as there is no available cloakroom.
